MARRICKVILLE YOGA CENTRE
Inspired by the Open practices at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune (RIMYI) we offer Open practices alongside our regular classes. These practices offer the opportunity to develop a deeper experience of your practice and begin to self-direct your own awareness to various areas of the body in asanas.
What is an open practice?
An Open Practice is for students to work on their own practice independently without a teachers guidance. Open Practices are a great way to begin to learn to practise by yourself, or some students come to practice together. Students use the space and props for their own practice.
How does it work?
These Practices are open to students currently attending classes at MYC with at least 12 months of general class experience. A Key is required – we cannot guarantee the studio will be open. Please get in touch to register & receive a key.
Attendance at the Open Practice counts as one class. Students can attend on their direct debit memberships or as a class on a 5 or 10 class card. If you would like to increase your membership to attend more classes, send us an email to email@example.com and it can be made from the next scheduled payment date.
You can purchase a 10 class card online here.
What are the benefits?
Students can use the time to practice what they’re learning in classes, practice for a certain time or to support themselves through injury or illness. i.e. menstrual sequence or a restorative program. Therapy students can use the props to practice the sequences that are given to them in Yoga Therapy.
What do I practice when I come in?
Practice sheets are available on our resources page, and we have hard copies of many sequences at The Centre to work with in these sessions. Students are also welcome to refer to any reference books from our library during their practice. We ask that these books do not leave The Centre.
