Open Practice Spotlight: Michael on Sunday Mornings.

What do you like about this time?
I have been doing Sunday morning practice from around 7.45 to 9.25 am, since April last year. I use it as a good lead into Robyn’s general class which begins at 9.30 am. Sundays mornings are generally a pleasant time to walk down to the studio, plus it gets me up and moving when I would be tempted to it sleep in.
What do you normally practice?

Generally Seated forward bends and twists. I’m tight especially in the hips and so the weekly practice of poses like simple cross legs twist; dandasana and triangmukhaikapada paschimottanasana helps with my flexibility. Plus, with a general class following my open practice, the poses are not too demanding.
What do you find the difference is for you between coming in and doing open practice and coming to a class?.

At open practice I can select the poses I wish to perform and the length of time I can hold them. Also, there is no problem in obtaining the equipment I need to support me in the poses.
Do you attend other Open practice times at the Centre?.
Not at the present time, but I am considering devoting another Open Practice to doing Balances, which I hope will give me further flexibility.
