Marrickville Yoga Centre runs classes in the Iyengar method 7 days a week, with over 35 classes per week , for beginners to experienced students.
The Centre has been part of the community since opening in 2007. Our modern spacious centre provides a welcoming atmosphere. All yoga equipment is provided, we are located right in the heart of Marrickville , close to public transport , with ample free parking close by.
In addition to the regular classes below, the Centre offers additional workshops on various topics and by visiting teachers throughout the year.
The starting point for students with no prior yoga experience,wanting to get back into practice or have no Iyengar Yoga experience. Classes focus on introducing and consolidating yoga foundations. Students are guided through a range of standing and seated poses and introduced to shoulderstand.
For people with some yoga experience. Students continue to consolidate the basics, and are introduced to newer poses such as inversions and backbends. It is expected that students in General Classes are comfortable in the setup and practice of Salamba Sarvangasana (shoulderstand).
Boost your brain power, reduce stress and improve your focus by joining our one hour lunch time yoga class between 12:00pm and 1:00pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
For more experienced students, ideally attending more than once a week. Familiarity and regular practice of all of the inversions and backbends essential. Students are working with Pranayama at this level.
ADVANCED BACKBEND VARIATIONS
Minimum of 5 years Iyengar Yoga experience necessary. Familiarity and regular practice of inversions and backbends essential. Stronger and more dynamic backbend sequences are worked in this practice.
YOGA FOR KIDS
In our Yoga for Kids class children will be introduced to basic yoga asanas through stories and games in an engaging, supportive and non-competitive environment.
Yoga helps children develop memory, strength and confidence.
Poses use supports where necessary. More of an emphasis is placed on remedial yoga. The class is ideal for new beginners as well as more experienced students working with injuries or ailments.
No bookings required. Students may attend at their appropriate level. All classes can be attended on a casual basis.
