Simon Joannou

Simon Joannou is full time yoga teacher,he has been teaching at the Balmain Yoga Studio since 2001. Simon has been training with Pixie Lillas and continues to teach with her at Balmain Yoga Studio.
Simon has studied in Pune , India with the Iyengar family. Simon is a Junior Intermediate Level 1 certified Iyengar Teacher.

Hasu Opa Clark

Hasu Opa Clark completed teacher training with Pixie Lillas in 2004. She has studied with Geeta Iyengar, and has taught at Balmain Yoga Studio. Hasu is a Level 2 certified Iyengar Teacher.

Rod Stennard

Rod Stennard began yoga whilst at art school in 1992. He has been trained by Pixie Lillas, and teaches at the Balmain Yoga Studio, as well as the Marrickville Yoga Centre. Rod has also studied with the Iyengar Family in Pune , India . He is a full time yoga teacher.
Rod is a Level 2 certified Iyengar Teacher.

Charles Hunter

Charles started practicing Iyengar Yoga after being injured playing soccer in 1999.He enjoyed the classes so much that after he had recovered from injury he continued to attend classes and his passion and interest has grown from there.Charles has been attending Pixies classes since 2005 and is completing his teacher training apprenticeship with her.

Iyengar Yoga

Iyengar Yoga is derived from the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar. His teachings are a unique and contemporary interpretation of classical Hatha Yoga as defined in the 2000 year old text The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.

Iyengar yoga distinguishes itself from other styles of yoga by:
  • Placing an emphasis on precise, detailed teaching instruction. This attention to detail aims to bring the body into healthy alignment – whilst bringing the mind into harmony with the physical body.
  • The use of props (such as blankets, cushions, belts etc), aimed at making yoga accessible and safe for all body types and ages, irrespective of ailment or injury.
  • Ensuring rigorous standards of accreditation and teacher training.
